DNA tests confirm terrorist leader's death

Indonesian police said today that DNA tests have confirmed terrorist leader Noordin Top was killed days ago in a shootout with police.

Spokesman Nanan Sukarna said that DNA tests supported the findings of an earlier fingerprint identification.

Last month, authorities initially believed a terror suspect killed by police was Noordin, but DNA tests proved otherwise.

Noordin, who police say is responsible for a string of deadly bombings in the country since 2002, died on Thursday after a gun battle at a safe house in central Java.
