Yemeni Shiite rebels claimed to have captured a key military post in the northern province of Sa'ada bordering Saudi Arabia where fighting has raged for nearly three weeks.

The rebels’ leader, Abdel Malak al-Hawthi, said in a statement that the rebels had captured a key military post in the Malahidh area in Sa'ada, including the post’s weapons and ammunition.

There was no immediate government response to the claim. Fighting has been heavy in Malahidh, causing many civilians to flee the area.
