Kenya Airways sacks striking staff
Holidaymakers were stranded across Africa today after Kenya Airways sacked staff who went on strike this week in a move that caused flight cancellations throughout the continent.
Flight attendants, engineers and other ground staff have been on strike since Friday to press for higher pay.
The strike crippled one the few airlines which flies to all parts of Africa with flight delays and cancellations.
A Kenya Airports Authority official said hundreds of passengers were stranded in the country’s main international airport.
The airline’s management issued the sacking letters today.
