Police concerned for missing girls

Police in Britain appealed for help today to trace two young girls who have gone missing.

Maria Betancur, 12, and Ismay Antigha-Lawrence, 13, have not been seen since 6pm yesterday when Ismay’s mother left them at the N1 Shopping Centre in Islington, north London.

Scotland Yard said Ismay phoned her mother later in the evening but would not tell her where they were.

PC Scott Roney, of the Islington Police Missing Persons Unit, said: “We are appealing for help from members of the public in the London area to assist police in locating these two girls, who are only aged 12 and 13 years.

“This is totally out of character and police and the girls’ parents are very concerned for their welfare and safety.”
