US plane makes emergency landing in Iceland
A United Airlines plane on is way to Chicago from London made an emergency landing in Iceland after smoke was seen coming out of the cockpit, authorities said today.
United Flight 949 which had taken off from Heathrow Airport yesterday, landed at Keflavik International Airport in Iceland at 8.51pm BST, United spokeswoman Robin Urbanski said.
There were 178 people aboard the Boeing 767 and no injuries were reported.
A replacement aircraft was sent to Keflavik and passengers were expected to arrive at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport later today.
