G8 leaders condemn North Korea nuclear test
Group of Eight leaders tonight condemned “in the strongest terms” North Korea’s nuclear test and ballistic missile launches.
A G8 statement said North Korea’s actions “pose a danger to peace and stability in the region and beyond”.
North Korea conducted a nuclear test in May and ballistic missile launches in April, and again just days before the summit.
The G8 leaders urged North Korea to refrain from further violations of United Nations Security Council resolutions and to engage in dialogue, including the six-party talks.
The statement also urged the reclusive communist nation to address concerns about humanitarian issues.
