White House celebrates Independence Day
The White House is getting ready for its big holiday barbecue and fireworks show.
President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle returned from Camp David in time to host the Independence Day celebration.
The Obamas have invited about 1,200 military families for the festivities tonight.
The loud sounds of the Foo Fighters carried across the White House’s South Lawn as the rockers rehearsed. During the presidential campaign last year, the band complained about John McCain’s use of their song “My Hero” to promote his candidacy.
His campaign said it paid the proper licenses to use many different songs, including that one.
Today also was Malia Obama’s 11th birthday. The President leaves Washington tomorrow to begin a trip to Russia, Italy and Ghana.
