Cancer-stricken Aquino in stable condition
Cancer-stricken former Philippine President Corazon Aquino remains in a stable condition in hospital, but is no longer in intensive care, her spokeswoman said today.
Spokeswoman Deedee Sytangco said the 76-year-old was admitted to the intensive care unit of the Makati Medical Center in Manilla last week after she stopped eating.
Ms Sytangco told a radio station that Ms Aquino had been moved out of intensive care. She was conscious and stable, but her health remains a worry.
No other details were given and the family is asking for privacy.
Former first lady Imelda Marcos, whose late husband was deposed by a 1986 "people power" revolt led by Ms Aquino, marked her 80th birthday with a short prayer for Ms Aquino.
