Dozens killed as bus plunges into gorge
A passenger bus plunged into a gorge in northern India early today, killing at least 25 people, police said.
An additional 40 people were injured in the accident near Panthal, a town 30 miles (50 kilometres) north of Jammu, a major city in Jammu-Kashmir state.
Sources say the bus plunged 200 feet (60 metres) into the gorge after the driver lost control while negotiating a steep turn on a mountainous road.
The injured passengers were taken to a government hospital.
