Pakistan airstrikes hit Taliban

Pakistan stepped up its offensive in tribal areas on the Afghanistan border today, launching airstrikes against Taliban forces who attacked three military bases.

The clashes followed artillery attacks yesterday on suspected militant strongholds in two towns in the north-west.
