Jury still out in Rockefeller trial

US jurors in the kidnapping trial of the German who calls himself Clark Rockefeller face a third day of deliberations today.

The Suffolk Superior Court jury of eight women and four men started deliberating shortly after noon on Monday and spent all day yesterday discussing the case.

Defence lawyers say Rockefeller, whose real name is Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter, descended into “pure madness” when he kidnapped his seven-year-old daughter Reigh Boss, who lives with her mother in London, during a supervised visit in Boston, Massachusetts, last July.

Father and daughter were found in Baltimore six days later. The girl was unharmed.

But a prosecutor called Gerhartsreiter’s insanity claim “preposterous” and said he was a master manipulator who planned the kidnapping and knew it was wrong.
