Top Tamil leaders killed as rebels admit defeat

Four top Tamil Tiger officials, including the supreme leader’s eldest son, were killed in Sri Lanka’s northern war zone, the military said today.

The announcement came after the insurgents said their quarter-century fight had reached its “bitter end”.
