Third Texan death from swine flu confirmed
Health officials in Texas today confirmed a 33-year-old man died last week from swine flu.
Corpus Christi-Nueces County Health District’s Dr William Burgin said the man died on May 5 or 6 after becoming sick a few days earlier. He says the man suffered from pre-existing medical conditions, including heart problems, that made it more difficult for him to survive any viral illness.
Dr Burgin did not identify the Corpus Christi man, but said he was a single parent of three children.
He says one of the children also contracted swine flu but was treated and is recovering.
The death is the third from swine flu in the southern US state.
