Exam pupils seriously hurt in duct collapse
Four children were seriously injured and nine others hurt in Britain today when a school heating duct collapsed as they were sitting an exam.
One child was airlifted to hospital after the accident in a sports hall at Minster College, in Minster Road on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent.
A Kent Police spokesman said emergency services were called to the college at 9.18am.
He said: “It’s been confirmed that 13 year nine pupils have been injured.
“They were sitting an exam in the sports hall when the incident occurred. One has been taken to hospital via air ambulance.”
The school was closed for the day.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service said no one was believed to be trapped following the collapse.
