Iran frees jailed US journalist
A US journalist jailed in Iran was freed today after an appeals court suspended her eight-year jail sentence.
Roxana Saberi, a 32-year-old American-Iranian, was convicted last month of spying for the US.
Her case caused tension between the United States and Iran at a time when President Barack Obama had said he wanted to improve relations.
Ms Saberi’s lawyer Abdolsamad Khorramshahi said Iran’s judiciary announced that the appeals court, which heard her case yesterday, had reduced her jail term to a suspended two-year sentence.
