A bloody footprint on a bathroom rug matched that of an Italian man charged with the murder of a British university student in 2007, an expert told a court today.

Lorenzo Rinaldi, who heads the identification section of Perugia’s crime scene squad, said the print appeared to belong to Raffaele Sollecito, Italy’s Ansa news agency and TV news reports said.
