Family of missing girl find mutilated body

The mutilated body of a 10-year-old girl was found in Jamaica today by family members who reported her missing earlier this week.

Police Constable Camay Watson said the body of Tameka Thomas was discovered in a bag in the south-coast parish of Clarendon.

She said the youngster was last seen on Monday when she left home to visit relatives.

More than 60 children were among the 1,611 people murdered last year in the Caribbean nation.

The government has set up a hotline and posted photographs of missing children at bus depots in a campaign against child abuse.
