Pakistan’s army said today that troops sent to counter a Taliban push towards the capital have captured a key town.

Pakistan’s army said today that troops sent to counter a Taliban push towards the capital have captured a key town.

A military statement said troops flown in on helicopters secured Dagger, the main town in Buner district, this morning.

An army official said warplanes had first pounded Taliban positions around the town. No information was available on casualties.
