Iceland's social democrats win most election votes

The Social Democrats have won the most votes in Icleand’s general election, official results showed today.

The results released today give the Social Democratic Party a plurality with more than 30%. The Left-Green Movement received more than 21% of the ballot.

The two parties said they will form a coalition government.

The official results are based on 97.9% of the votes cast in yesterday’s elections, with five constituencies still counting ballots.
