Pair shot dead at US community college

Two people were killed today in what US police believe was a murder-suicide at a community college in Michigan.

Deputy Police Chief Gregg Brighton said Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn was locked down in the early afternoon, shortly after an emergency call reported shots being fired.

Responding officers set up a perimeter around the fine arts building and heard a gunshot as they entered.

Mr Brighton said police discovered the bodies of a man and a woman in a room, which he did not think was being used at the time.

The lockdown was later lifted.

Mr Brighton said a shotgun was used in the killings.
