Nato leaders have chosen the prime minister of Denmark as the alliance’s new secretary general at their 60th anniversary summit in Strasbourg and have given full support to President Obama’s new Afghan war strategy.

Despite not delivering major promises for new troops, Nato leaders agreed on a new training mission for Afghan security forces, launched work on a new strategic concept for the alliance in the future and said they would seek to overcome differences with Russia.
