At least 11 people are dead after a suicide bomber struck a restaurant in volatile northwest Pakistan.

The roadside restaurant’s visitors at the time included some two dozen militants opposed to Pakistani Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud.

Several others were wounded in today’s attack in the Tank town area near the tribal regions.

Pockets of Pakistan’s northwest are strongholds for Taliban, al-Qaida and other militants.

The US has pushed Pakistan to crack down on the extremists.
