Israeli prime minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu reached an agreement that would bring the centrist Labour Party into his coalition today, an important step toward moderating the emerging government.

Labour activists were set to vote later on the deal, which calls on the government to pursue peace negotiations with the Palestinians. However, the vote was expected to be close and approval was far from certain.
