Fourteen killed in ski trip plane crash
Fourteen people were killed when a plane crashed in a cemetery as it approached an airport in Montana, officials said today.
Seven adults and seven children died in the accident, Karen Byrd, a Federal Aviation Administration operations officer in Renton, Washington, confirmed.
The number of dead had originally been put as high as 17.
FAA spokesman Mike Fergus said the single engine turboprop aircraft crashed and caught fire at Holy Cross Cemetery, 500ft (150m) short of Bert Mooney Airport in Butte.
No cause was given.
Mr Fergus said investigators believed the group were on a ski trip.
