10 shot dead at German school

At least 10 people, most of them pupils, were shot dead at their school in Germany today by an attacker wearing combat gear.

The man then fled the scene in Winnenden and police were scouring the area for him.

A police spokeswoman said several other people were injured.

Police said the man entered the 1,000-pupil Albertville technical high school near Stuttgart this morning and opened fire, shooting at random.

The school has been evacuated.
