Obama unveils schools shake-up blueprint

US President Barack Obama pledged far-reaching educational reform today, declaring that continued decline in US schools was “untenable” for the economy, “unsustainable” for democracy and “unacceptable” for children.

Outlining his costly blueprint for the future of schools and colleges, Mr Obama said “the American dream” was at risk unless an essential overhaul of the system was implemented.
