Battle for giant emerald goes to court

A huge emerald weighing almost half a tonne is at the centre of a legal battle between six people who each claim they own it.

A Los Angeles judge will eventually rule on the case, but meanwhile the emerald, a four feet square granite cube with the emeralds encrusted in it will remain in the custody of the Sheriff’s Department.
