Strike-riddled Italy is considering new laws to ban industrial action which annually cripples air, rail and road travel with hundreds of protests.

Measures approved at a Cabinet meeting today would toughen sanctions for wildcat strikes and make it harder for small unions to call a walkout and paralyse transportation with the backing of just a handful of workers.
