Caribbean violence continues
Protesters on the Caribbean island of Martinique turned violent for the second night in a row as protests continued over high prices and low pay.
Strikers looted stores, burned cars and hurled bottles at police who responded by firing tear gas. Two officers were injured and one was taken to the hospital.
The rioting began late last night after a rubbish bin was set on fire in the capital of Fort-de-France.
Hooded and armed rioters soon took over the capital, but police responded and calm returned in the pre-dawn hours.
Dozens of people were detained and firefighters said they responded to about 50 calls.
