Militants in Pakistan’s Swat valley have extended their ceasefire indefinitely, giving more time for peace talks, a Taliban spokesman said today.

Pakistani authorities have offered to introduce Islamic law in Swat and the surrounding region if militants agree to lay down their arms.

Security forces are also holding their fire.

Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan said that the militants’ ceasefire has been extended indefinitely.

It was due to expire tomorrow.
