Tamil planes bomb Sri Lankan capital
Two small Tamil Tiger planes attacked Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo today bombing a tax office.
No casualties were reported in the raid, which remains a major embarrassment for the government after it claimed to have destroyed all the rebels’ hidden runways and rendered its small air wing powerless.
A military spokesman said the air force chased the aircraft and shot one down.
Travellers at the country’s international airport north of the capital said they heard a loud explosion and anti-aircraft fire, but it was unclear whether the airport itself came under attack.
