Sarkozy makes first trip to Iraq

French President Nicolas Sarkozy has arrived in Baghdad on his first trip to Iraq.

The French leader was received today by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani in a welcoming ceremony shown on Iraqi state television.

The visit comes as France is seeking to rebuild ties with the war-torn nation after opposing the 2003 US-led invasion.
