The two-man crew of an RAF Harrier were forced to eject after their aircraft was involved in what was described as an “incident” at their base in Akrotiri, Cyprus today.

A spokesman was unable to say if there were any casualties, or what kind of a mission the jet was flying at the time.

RAF Akrotiri is part of two Sovereign Base Areas on Cyprus that Britain retained after the former colony gained independence in 1960.
