Opposition to join Zimbabwean unity government

Two members of Zimbabwe’s main opposition party today said it would join a unity government in early February.

The officials said the decision was made today at a meeting of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change.

Earlier this week, the opposition had rejected a recommendation from regional leaders that the coalition agreement stalled since September be implemented in early February.

Many have speculated President Robert Mugabe would form a government on his own if the opposition did not join him.
