Congo warlord denies child crimes

Warlord Thomas Lubanga calmly pleaded not guilty to exploiting hundreds of child soldiers “to kill, pillage and rape” as his trial finally began at the International Criminal Court today

The hearing started six years after the world’s first permanent war crimes tribunal was set up and six months later than planned after being derailed by fierce debate over confidential evidence.
