Presidential inauguration ceremony underway in Washington

The official proceedings got underway this afternoon shortly after 4pm Irish time at the presidential inauguration of Barack Obama in Washington.

Mr Obama is scheduled to take his oath of office at 5pm, before delivering his much anticipated speech.
