Brown expected to attend Gaza summit

The French president’s office says he will co-preside a summit meeting in Egypt to discuss the Gaza crisis.

The statement says the German and British leaders are also expected to attend the meeting.

The French leader’s office said in a statement that Nicolas Sarkozy will preside tomorrow’s meeting in the Red Sea resort Sharm el-Sheikh along with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. He is then to travel to Israel to meet with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

News of the summit comes as Israel is expected to vote tonight on whether to approve an Egyptian proposal for a ceasefire.

Egypt has been trying to broker an end to the crisis in Gaza, now in its 22nd day.
