Boeing to cut 4,500 US jobs

Aircraft manufacturer Boeing said today it planned to cut about 4,500 jobs this year due to the global economic slowdown.

The Chicago-based company said the cuts would be made in its commercial aircraft business, which has factories in the Seattle area.
