Gaza rockets hit Israel

Gaza militants launched barrages of rockets and mortar shells at southern Israel, rescue services said today.

One rocket scored a direct hit on a house in the town of Sderot, they said. No one was injured.

The Israeli army said a worker at an Israeli farming community near Gaza was slightly injured by shrapnel in a separate rocket attack today.

A truce between Israel and Gaza’s Hamas rulers expired on Friday.

The truce had unravalled since early November, and rocket fire at Israeli towns has been increasing in recent days.

Yesterday, more than 30 rockets and mortar shells were fired into Israel.

The Israeli air force killed one militant who was launching rockets.

Israel has threatened to carry out a larger military action in Gaza if the fire persists.
