Obama working on $850bn economic rescue plan

Barack Obama is laying the groundwork for a giant economic stimulus package of up to $850bn (€590bn) over two years, an adviser to the US President-elect said.

The package, aimed at reviving the flagging US economy, would rival drastic government actions taken to fight the Great Depression in the 1930s.
