More than 40 people have been charged with criminal offences after protesters caused chaos at one of Britain’s busiest airports, police in the UK said today.

More than 40 people have been charged with criminal offences after protesters caused chaos at one of Britain’s busiest airports, police in the UK said today.

Activists from Plane Stupid cut through security fencing at Stansted Airport, in Essex, early yesterday morning.

Essex Police said 44 people had today been charged following the incident, with a further seven released on bail.

A spokesman said five remained in custody.
