Airport set to reopen after Thai protests

A Thai aviation official says Bangkok’s main Suvarnabhumi international airport will become fully operational tomorrow.

The acting director of the airports authority, Serirat Prasutanont, says Suvarnabhumi airport will be “open for full services, including check-in and immigration,” at 11am (0400 Irish time) tomorrow.

It is now up to the airlines to resume operations from Suvarnabhumi, which had been shut since November 25 after anti-government protesters laid siege on it.

Singapore Airlines said it will operate one flight to and from Suvarnabhumi tomorrow and its full schedule of five flights beginning on Saturday.

National airline Thai Airways has already started operations from the airport, and many other airlines are following suit.
