Corrupt police officers who helped drug dealers guard and deliver their supplies were exposed in an FBI sting today.

Undercover federal agents in Chicago arrested 15 officers as they revealed how an organised ring:

:: Stood guard over duffel bags stuffed with cocaine as they arrived a suburban airport in Illinois.

:: Provided security at an illegal poker game where 100,000 dollars changed hands.

:: Offered a drug dealer squad cars marked “sheriff” to provide protection for his deliveries.

The 15 officers and two other men who had pretended to be law enforcement officers were charged with conspiracy to possess and distribute drugs.

US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald said he was dismayed to find that so many law enforcement officers had “sold out their badge.”
