Five arrested in Somalia over kidnapped journalists

Five men have been arrested in Somalia in connection with the kidnapping of a British journalist and Spanish photographer last week.

Muse Gelle Yusuf, governor of the Bari region of Puntland, said today that police are still searching for the missing journalists in the semi-autonomous northern region of Puntland.

The two are believed to be held in hills in the east of the town of Bossaso.

They were researching an article on piracy when they were seized.

Hijacking ships and kidnapping foreigners for ransom is a popular way of making money in the impoverished and war-ravaged country.
