Fire alarm hits BBC radio broadcasts
Staff at the BBC’s corporate headquarters were evacuated temporarily after a fire alarm went off this morning.
The BBC said the false alarm at Broadcasting House, home of BBC Radio, in central London, had affected two radio programmes – the 'Sarah Kennedy Show' on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 6 Music.
A spokeswoman said staff were evacuated for 12 minutes from 7.20am. She said both programmes played music during the evacuation.
She said: “It was a fire alarm that was set off and everyone was evacuated and they were outside for 12 minutes.”
