Report: Clinton accepts Secretary of State job
It has been reported by the New York Times that Hillary Clinton has accepted the job of Secretary Of State from Barack Obama.
Meanwhile, a senior Democratic official says former presidential candidate and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson has emerged as a serious contender for US Commerce Secretary in President-elect Barack Obama’s Cabinet.
Mr Richardson had been in the running for Secretary of State.
He is under consideration for Commerce now that Mr Obama plans to nominate Hillary Rodham Clinton as secretary of state after Thanksgiving holiday.
The official with knowledge of the private Cabinet discussions spoke on background because the deliberations are not final.
Mr Richardson is a prominent Hispanic leader who endorsed Mr Obama after dropping his own presidential bid this year.
