France calls for financial-meltdown warning system

The world should develop an early-warning system that would alert countries to looming financial threats, France’s finance minister said.

The proposal was among ideas Christine Lagarde discussed with Mexican finance secretary Agustin Carstens in Mexico City before a summit in Washington on the international financial crisis on Saturday.
