UN chief hopes for new era of US co-operation
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today called Barack Obama’s election a unique chance to usher in a new era of American co-operation with the rest of the world.
Mr Ban and other top diplomats said they were highly optimistic about the prospects for Mr Obama’s presidency marking a sharp departure from Republicans’ disdain for the world body.
He told reporters Mr Obama’s victory represents an historic opportunity, based on Mr Obama’s campaign utterances, for an era of renewed US partnerships and a new era of American multilateralism
