Record turnout looks to send Obama to White House

US voters queued for hours today at the end of a marathon and historic political race expected to make Democrat Barack Obama the country’s first black president.

It seemed only a huge come-from-behind upset by Republican John McCain could overturn the predictions of a President Obama.
