Toll in India blasts rises to 76
The death toll in the bombings in north-eastern India rose to at least 76 today as officials said local militants may have been helped by other terrorist groups to carry out the attacks.
The scale and planning behind yesterday’s 13 coordinated blasts in Assam surprised authorities, who struggled to determine who was behind the attacks - among the worst ever in a region plagued by separatism and ethnic violence.
